Last week I wrote about the dearth of ‘wear-it-now’ pieces in the new Thakoon for Target collection. The rest of the pieces have finally trickled into stores. This new crop is darker, heavier and the perfect antidote for those post-holiday blues!
The second Shibori print (ebony/grey) is a hit and more wearable right now than the summery navy/white print released initially. The Woven Dress ($39.99) is a heavy cotton, but not especially warm, so pair it with some textured tights and start rockin'. The matching skirt is adorable, but A-line cuts above the knee don't flatter everyone, so definitely try before you buy.

The Tory Burch-esque Shibori Print Tunic ($29.99) is made from even lighter fabric -- I’ve been wearing mine over a black ribbed turtleneck. Although most of the pieces are more generously sized than past collections (and correspond more closely to true Misses sizing), you may want to size-up on this piece. Although there's some inverted pleating at the top, it’s cut fairly straight and there’s not a lot of slack in the back, so if you don’t want booty cling…suck it up and order the bigger size.

When I first saw photos of the Pleated Bottom Dress ($39.99), I was thrilled. Who doesn't love getting an updated shirt dress? After trying it on, I was in tears and had 'I look like a sausage' nightmares for a week. Bottom line: unless you're pin-thin, stay away. The fabric is an unforgiving heavy cotton--no spandex blended in. Although there's body lengthening pintuck pleating in front and back, it's interrupted in the front by patch pockets square on the boob and at the widest part of the hip...these aren't mentioned in the description and it's hard to see them in photos. The piece is also cut very straight and slim, with nary a flare from the armpits down. The button front has an unusual placket -- it's meant to cover only 1/2 of the button, so it amplifies any spots where the buttons are stretched -- even in the Target website photo, you can see this on the model.
After the previous dressing room drama, I needed a sure thing. The Canvas Floral Trench ($44.99) is a great choice -- stunning print and classic styling, although I'm not sure how waterproof it is, given the all cotton canvas fabric. It features some unexpected features, like full satin lining and a covered placket for sleek lines in the front. If you want a little more shaping, throw on a black or navy patent belt.
Here's yet another reason to look forward to spring. The Jacquard Stripe top
($26.99, in pink or blue) is adorable! Although it gets somewhat lost on the website display, it's one of the first pieces you notice when viewing the collection in person. Fabric is cotton and the stripes are slightly textured and woven, not dye-d. Other features include lightly puffed sleeves and a longer length for wearing in or out. Again, not loving the boob pocket or half-covered placket, but overall, this is too cute to resist.

i tried on the canvas trench. i liked it, but i decided to get a kimono i saw at anthropologie instead, i figured it would be more practical for the hot weather and id get more use of it.

I was so surprised when read through your excellent issue related to this good post. I couldn’t conceive that such essay papers has been written not by custom essay writing service! You’re a great expert, I opine.
