Tokidoki's Simone Legno Hits San Francisco: Nov 15, 2008
Tokidoki's beloved creator, Simone (pronounced Si-mon-ay) Legno said Ciao to San Francisco at Macy's Union Square. Not wanting to miss a chance to meet to the genius responsible for one of the biggest -- and cutest! -- fashion crazes this side of Hello Kitty (is it any wonder they got together?), for the second time this week I dutifully got up at what our household calls the ‘a** crack of dawn’ and stood in line for 3 hours. Having spent a good portion of the past week queuing for other special events (Commes des Garcons at H&M), I experienced a bit of an existential crisis on the drive in. However, this moment quickly passed as I found myself among the gorgeous and delightful super-fans pictured here. The couple in the first photo left Reno at 2:00 am and experienced our city's finest pre-dawn moments as they waited in front of Macy's from 7:00 am on...hey, been there done that down the street @ H&M 2 days ago! We were among the lucky 300 who got a black wristband and a spot to meet the trasformista and gentle soul that is Simone. He was truly kind and patient with, sketching each fan’s favorite Tokidoki character with a Sharpie. I opted for Sandy, because she's the closest to my heart, although Bastardino and Donutella ran a close second...
